Over the past 15 years senior citizens across Manurewa have benefited from the endless efforts of
local resident and president of the Manurewa Senior Citizens Club, Trudy Froger.
In her role as president Trudy has been integral in bringing senior citizens together for many fun
activities, including bus trips, mid-winter Christmas dinners and social afternoons.
Over the years Trudy has spent many hours on the phone securing donations of food and other
items from local business and worked with members of the local council and Manurewa Local
Board to ensure senior citizens are well looked after.
Trudy often goes the extra mile to make every event a success and even enticed Auckland mayor
Len Brown to join in the festivities at the club's 50th anniversary earlier this month.
In her role as president Trudy has not only organised social activities but also made sure support
is available for all 50 club members.
Angela Dalton, the deputy chairperson for Manurewa Local Board has nothing but praise for Trudy
and the effort she has put into her role.
"Trudy has a reputation as a lady who can get the job done and will use every possible medium
she can to achieve her objectives," says Angela.
"She is the only lady in her eighties that is chatting to me on Facebook reminding me to pick up the
Pinto punch for one of her many organised club celebratory lunches."
Trudy has loved her time as president of the club and says the most important part of the role has
been to provide both friendship and family for all its members.
"I call this club my second home and I know that there are a number of other members who feel
that way," says Trudy.
After her long and successful term as president of the Manurewa Senior Citizens Club Trudy is
